Rinse and cook the rice. Washing the rice removes any excess starch to avoid a gummy texture. After running it through a strainer to remove any water, place in a large saucepan with cinnamon sticks and bring to a boil - then lower the heat so the rice gently simmers. Cook until the rice is soft (approx. 30 minutes). No need to stir too much!

Add remaining ingredients.  Once the rice is soft and ready, stir in the milk or creamer (creamer or half and half makes the texture richer). Add the condensed milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon sticks.

 

If you are using raisins, add these too!

Bring the mix back to a gentle simmer and cook for another 15 minutes or until the mixture is thick and creamy.

Once the mix is creamy by your standards, remove from the heat, give some time to cool (this way it gets a little thicker) and serve.

Sprinkle with ground cinnamon on top as garnish.
